Coudersport, PA – Adelphia Communications plans to move its corporate headquarters out of Coudersport, Pennsylvania to Denver, Colorado. But the decision is not expected to affect Buffalo area employees.
Adelphia's Board of Directors approved the relocation to Denver Tuesday. But Adelphia leaders say most employees will remain in Coudersport -- the town where the company was founded. Only senior managers are expected to move to Denver.
Adelphia says about 150 employees would relocate to the new headquarters while the vast majority of Adelphia's 1,400 workers will remain at its operations center in Coudersport.
The cable company says the decision is "not expected to impact" the more than 1,700 workers in Western New York.
Adelphia, which was forced to file for bankruptcy during the financial collapse of founder John Rigas, says the relocation is an "important step in rebuilding the company."
The move is subject to approval and consents of regulators including U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
