Buffalo, NY – More than 1,000 people gathered at the Buffalo Convention Center Sunday to honor outgoing Deputy Assembly Speaker Arthur Eve, who is retiring.
The $100-a-plate dinner was held to recognize Eve for his 36-year career in the State Assembly. It also served as a fundraiser for Freedom, Justice and Hope, a non-profit organization founded by Eve and his family to help the underprivileged.
Eve said the organization will push policies that benefit the poor, youth and the elderly.
"It's not just Buffalo, it's Western New York (and) the State of New York that he has done so much for," State Senator Dale M. Volker, R-Depew, told the Buffalo News.
