Buffalo's Women of Hip Hop

The B.flo Girls are a DJ and breakdance collective who aim to uplift women in hip hop.

Women in the industry are expected "to be like Barbie dolls and sit pretty and be quiet," according to the Buffalo emcee. But Pretty Bulli has never been one to conform.

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip hop, but it is still a male-dominated genre. Even though women who rap may not be on the radio as much as their male counterparts, plenty of talented women are making hip hop music, and right here in Buffalo.
