A Mercy Flight helicopter crashed at the Genesee County Airport Wednesday night, but there were no injuries reported.
Sheriff deputies said it happened just before 9:30 p.m. in a field on the north side of the airport, just north of the flight line.
The chopper was attempting to land after returning from Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, but made a hard landing that damaged the underside of its fuselage. All crew members were safely outside the aircraft when deputies arrived, but were taken to the hospital for medical evaluations as a precaution.
The cause of the crash is not known, but the sheriff's office is continuing the investigation along with the Federal Aviation Administration. In September, Mercy Flight celebrated 40 years and close to 30,000 missions serving the community.
