The coalition of attorneys general sent their demand letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

A coalition of six attorneys general, led by New York's Leticia James, is urging the NFL to address gender-based discrimination in the league.

In a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the coalition expressed "grave concerns" about recent reports of the NFL’s "hostile workplace culture."

In February, the NY Times published reports from more than 30 former employees who described a "pervasive culture of sexism and widespread workplace discrimination" within the league, "including but not limited to, sexual harassment, targeted retaliation and harmful stereotyping."

The AG letter demands the league take swift action to improve workplace conditions and protect its female employees.

“In 2014, we watched in horror as the video of Ray Rice brutally attacking his fiancé was made public,” James said. “In the aftermath of that disturbing incident and too many others, the NFL promised to do better, take gender violence seriously and improve conditions for women within the league. We now know that they did nothing of the sort.”

James also urged anyone who experienced or witnessed similar discrimination at the NFL or any other employer to file a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General.
