No longer "embracing the tank", Sabres find themselves again with best lottery odds

For the third time in five years, the Buffalo Sabres have the best odds at winning the NHL draft lottery. It's an 18.5 % chance. Whoever wins will land prized prospect defenseman Rasmus Dahlin.

It was only three years ago Sabres fans were "embracing the tank" in hopes of drafting Connor McDavid. They lost and ended up with franchise player Jack Eichel, but fans were not happy with the outcome. You can hear some of the outrage in this WBFO video.

Bad news for Sabres fans. The newer draft lottery format means the Sabres are more likely to pick fourth than first, second, or third. The 2018 NHL draft lottery show starts tonight at 7:30 PM on NBC and CBC.
