Jon Bon Jovi is crediting the "evil genius" of Donald Trump for thwarting his bid to own the Buffalo Bills.
Bon Jovi made the comment Wednesday on the "Howard Stern Show," in an appearance honoring the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
Bon Jovi said he was prepared to start a new chapter in his life as a professional sports team owner. In 2014, he and his investors made a bid to buy the Bills.
The rocker says he was "desperately serious" about it, even planning to buy a house in Buffalo.
But Trump - who also expressed interest in the team at the time - reportedly orchestrated a behind-the-scenes plan to discredit Bon Jovi and his two Canadian investors, alleging the Bills would move.
"It got so bad, they stopped playing us on the radio," he recalled. "It was genius what he did because he was taking out a serious candidate to buy the team and then he would get it at a bargain price."
"We were as real as real got." he continued. "You know, I’m brokenhearted because I would have loved it and what we would have done in Western New York. I think that we could have done a lot of amazing things.”
