The Buffalo Bills will formally unveil the new name of Ralph Wilson Stadium Thursday morning. Starting this season, the Orchard Park facility will be known as New Era Field.
Bills analyst Matt Sabuda confirmed the new name for WBFO on Wednesday. The team formally announced it on Twitter Thursday morning, along with the hashtag #TheCap.
Last week, the team announced a naming rights partnership with Buffalo-based New Era, which makes hats and apparel for several major North American sports leagues.
A photo making the rounds on social media Wednesday showed a covered-up sign at the facility partially revealed with an "N" on a top line and an "F" underneath on a second line.
This will be the third name for the facility, which was known as Rich Stadium for its first 25 years. Business First reports the deal is worth roughly $40 million for the seven remaining years of the current lease in Orchard Park.
The arena that hosts Buffalo's other major league team, the Sabres, is also undergoing a rebranding. First Niagara Center is in the process of being transformed into KeyBank Center, following Key's aquisition of First Niagara Bank earlier this summer.
Thursday's announcement at the stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m. Team owner Terry Pegula is scheduled to attend the unveiling.
