Bills' McCoy under investigation in assault of off-duty Philadelphia cops

Twitter

Reports out of Philadelphia indicate Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is being investigated for the alleged assault of two off-duty Philadelphia police officers at a bar there early Sunday morning.  Both officers were hospitalized as a result of the incident, which sources say occurred around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Recess Lounge. Police say a fight broke out over a bottle of champagne. They say four men punched, kicked and stomped an officer who was knocked to the ground. The Associated Press has confirmed one of those four men is McCoy.

The second off-duty officer intervened with security guards. All were ejected from the club. Police say one officer had a broken nose, broken ribs and a sprained thumb. The second officer was hospitalized with a possible skull fracture.

McCoy played for the Philadelphia Eagles for six seasons before coming to Buffalo last year in a trade.

The Bills issued the following statement late Monday morning:

"We are aware of the reports regarding LeSean McCoy and in the process of gathering more information. We will not provide any further comment at this time."

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
