Jack Eichel looks confident in the World Hockey Championships, but is he ready for the NHL?Eichel's appearance in the World Hockey Championships have provided hockey enthusiasts plenty of time to analyze the Boston University star. Eichel scored the game winning goal in overtime this week to push the U.S. past Slovakia. Team U.S.A. beat Switzerland Thursday. The U.S. takes on Russia, the defending World Hockey Champions, Saturday in the semifinal round.

Eichel will almost certainly be selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the #2 overall pick in this summer's draft. WBFO Morning Edition Host Jay Moran had the chance to talk about Eichel with Amy Moritz, who covers the Sabres and college hockey for the Buffalo News.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.

Jay joined Buffalo Toronto Public Media in 2008 and has been local host for NPR's "Morning Edition" ever since. In June, 2022, he was named one of the co-hosts of WBFO's "Buffalo, What's Next."

A graduate of St. Mary's of the Lake School, St. Francis High School and Buffalo State College, Jay has worked most of his professional career in Buffalo. Outside of public media, he continues in longstanding roles as the public address announcer for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and as play-by-play voice of Canisius College basketball.
