'Behind The Bench': Sabres keep trying

The Buffalo Sabres return to the ice tomorrow night after a successful shootout earlier this week against Boston.  In this week's edition of 'Behind the Bench' Sabres Beat reporter Bill Hoppe tells WBFO'S Eileen Buckley the team is not giving up despite a difficult season.

The Sabres beat Boston in a shootout Tuesday night 2-1. "It wasn't a perfect game, but it was a very nice win for them," said Hoppe.

Hoppe noted that Sabres Goaline Anders Lindback has a lot of potential. "He's been very good for the Sabres," stated Hoppe.

With 12 games left in regular season, the Sabres are in 30th place in the NHL standings. But Hoppe said the team could move up to 29th or 28th.

"They're still not playing great, but when you have those kind of efforts and that kind of goaltending they can play with anyone," said Hoppe.

"They haven't quit," said Hoppe. "The Sabres are fighting to the finish."

'Behind the Bench' can be heard each Thursday morning on WBFO at 5:45, 7:45 and 9:45.
