A big week for the Buffalo Bills, coming off a win over the lions yesterday and heading into the NFL ownership vote Wednesday. WBFO's Jay Moran goes "Beyond the Playbook" with Matt Sabuda:
The Bills managed to pull off a last second 17-14 win over the Lions in Detroit yesterday, the team's last game under the ownership of the late Ralph Wilson and his family.
The Bills struggled throughout the first half but redeemed themselves in the second, as back up Quarterback Kyle Orton began to connect with receivers down field to tie the game up at 14-14. Kicker Dan Carpenter sunk the winning 58-yard field goal with just seconds left on the clock after the Lions missed one just a moment earlier. While Orton really stepped up in the second half, Sabuda notes the defense also played a great game allowing only 14 points against the Bills.
Sabuda adds "The Lions are Wilson's hometown team, a team that he grew up loving... so it was very fitting that it came right down to a final second kick to win the game, the Wilsons' final game as ownership."
Meanwhile, NFL owners meet this week to vote on the Pegula family's bid to purchase the team. Sabuda notes the Bills will have some added incentive to beat the Patriots next week since New England Owner Bob Kraft supported Rocker Jon Bon Jovi's bid to purchase the Bills, rather than Terry Pegula's offer.
