Longtime Buffalo Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret was inducted into Hockey's Hall of Fame on Monday.
Jeanneret received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster. He joined players Mats Sundin, Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, and Joe Sakic in the 2012 class, along with Globe and Mail columnist Roy MacGregor, who received the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award for excellence in hockey journalism
The team's play-by-play announcer for 40 years, Jeanneret started broadcasting Sabres games in 1971. He is the longest-tenured play-by-play man in NHL history.
The St. Catherines, Ontario native is already a member of the Sabres Hall of Fame, the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, and the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
