Press Pass: Eight young influencers in WNY
The December issue of Buffalo Spree will introduce readers to eight Western New Yorkers under 40 who are doing interesting things in our region. In this week's Press Pass with WBFO's Mark Scott, Spree editor Elizabeth Licata says she had help in selecting these eight young influencers.
The eight influencers are: Rachelle Toarmino, 29, communications and development manager at Arts Services Initiative of WNY and editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Peach; Rachel Glover, 31, a manager for Rochester-based Button Distillery and cosplay performer at comic-cons; Matthew Crehan Higgins, 40, associate vice president for Enhanced Medical Services at Evergreen and a playwright; India Walton, 37, executive director of the Fruit Belt Community Land Trust; Cassandra Bull, 24, Farm-to-School Coordinator at Cornell Cooperative Extension; Rebecca Newberry, 38, executive director of the Clean Air Coalition of Western New York; Jamil Crews, 38, Digital Communications Manager for Say Yes to Education Buffalo; and Zack Klug, 31, winemaker.
Also in the December issue of Buffalo Spree, Elizabeth and garden writer Sally Cunningham write about houseplant mania. They're not referring to the three or four houseplants in most homes. They profile two people who have more than 450 houseplants between them. We'll learn about the variety of plants they're growing in their homes and how, in one of the homes, the space is conducive to growing hundreds of them.
Mark and Elizabeth reflect on last week's first taste of winter in our region and how adept we are in handling a foot of snow -- an amount that would paralyze most other regions of the country.
