The Erie County Fair begins Wednesday. In this week's Press Pass with WBFO's Mark Scott, Buffalo Spree Editor Elizabeth Licata says her favorite part of attending the fair is stopping by the livestock barns to see the animals.
"It's what the fair is all about," Elizabeth says. "There's an historical element to just about everything at the Fair."
As the calendar pages turn from July to August, many of the summer's popular festivals are in the rearview mirror. But Mark and Elizabeth say there are plenty of outdoor festivals and concerts to come in the coming weeks. The August issue of Buffalo Spree has a comprehensive list.
Also in the Press Pass podcast this week, Mark and Elizabeth talk about a visit to Buffalo by writers for Atlas Obscura, an online publication that takes readers to obscure destinations.
They also touch on the start of construction at the site of the old Northtown Plaza in Amherst, which will become a lifestyle shopping center and renamed "Station 12."
