It's been quite a winter so far -- a blizzard, record high and low temperatures, flooding and a wind storm in the last two weeks alone. For many, winter is a time to head outdoors. In this week's Press Pass with WBFO's Mark Scott, Buffalo Spree editor Elizabeth Licata celebrates winter, starting with a visit to Niagara Falls.

Mark and Elizabeth also talk about winter at Canalside and the Buffalo Zoo.

The February issue of Buffalo Spree introduced a new look, including a new logo and a new set of fonts.

"Throughout the magazine, there is an emphasis on high-impact designs with big images," Elizabeth said.

She also reflects on how getting around Buffalo can be so confusing, especially if you're from outside our area. Imagine an out-of-towner coming to that "nightmare" at Goodell, Main, Pearl and Edward and having to quickly decide which is the correct option to their destination. Artist Peter Gorman's "Barely Maps" design depicts many of the crazy intersections in Buffalo and other cities.

And with the Burchfield Penney Art Center now ten years old, Elizabeth talks about a current exhibit there featuring the works of Charles Burchfield.
