September is a month when many of us head back indoors to enjoy the theater or a museum. But there's still time for some outdoor activities. After the oppressive heat of this summer, more moderate temperatures in the coming days will make hiking and biking more comfortable. The September issue of Buffalo Spree explores some of the more scenic trails in the region. In this week's Press Pass with WBFO's Mark Scott, Spree Editor Elizabeth Licata says she's always enjoyed hiking.
Zoar Valley, the Niagara Gorge and Chestnut Ridge Park offer scenic hiking opportunities. But it's always good advice to stick to the marked trails to avoid a mishap. When hiking, Elizabeth says bring plenty of water and maybe a compass or GPS in case you get lost.
If you prefer biking, the City of Buffalo is embarking on a multi-year plan that could make the city one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the nation. Elizabeth also touches on Slow Roll and mountain biking in Ellicottville.
Mark and Elizabeth also talk about the arts. Something called PechaKucha is coming to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery this Thursday. And Friday is Curtain Up!
