India Walton reacts to her Democratic primary win in the Buffalo mayoral race June 22, 2021.

Democratic Buffalo mayoral candidate India Walton took to social Twitter Thursday to confirm reports that her car had been impounded due to several hundred dollars in unpaid parking tickets and an expired inspection sticker.

"They towed my damn car," Walton said in a tweet.

She said her status as a "low-income single mother enrolled in Medicaid" was a factor in the unpaid parking fines.

The car was towed from an on-street parking space near her campaign headquarters downtown and taken to the city's impound lot on Dart Street, near Buffalo State College.
