Former Town of Tonawanda supervisor Ron Moline dies at 78

Town of Tonawanda

The Town of Tonawanda has announced the death of two-time former Town Supervisor Ronald Moline. Moline died March 31 at age 78.

A former high school teacher in Buffalo, Moline was Supervisor through most of the 1980s and again from 2001-2007. He also served on various county and state boards and committees.

His political career began with a strong campaign for a Town Council seat in 1981 as a Republican and Conservative. He was appointed supervisor in September 1983 upon the death of incumbent James Ryan.

Moline was then elected and re-elected until resigning in 1993 to return to teaching.

He was succeeded by Carl Calabrese, but then returned to the Town Board and was appointed Supervisor again when Calabrese resigned to serve as deputy Erie County executive under Joel Giambra.

Moline retired in 2007 and moved to Lancaster, wintering in Florida since then.

He is survived by his wife and three children. Funeral arrangements are pending.
