Green Party gubernatorial candidate Howie Hawkins

Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins, a retired UPS worker from Syracuse, and former Vietnam war protester, is running for governor for the third time, challenging popular incumbent Andrew Cuomo from the left. Hawkins, in a conversationwith Karen DeWitt, explains why he thinks he is a true alternative and not just a protest vote.

Karen DeWitt is Capitol Bureau Chief for New York State Public Radio, a network of 10 public radio stations in New York State. WBFO listeners are accustomed to hearing DeWitt’s insightful coverage throughout the day, including expanded reports on Morning Edition.
