WNED|WBFO will host a free sneak peek of the POV documentary "Dark Money" on Saturday at 3 p.m. in its Buffalo studios. The director of this Sundance award-winning film will be answering questions immediately following this only local showing before the PBS national premiere Oct. 1.
Director Kimberly Reed describes the film as a political thriller, examining "one of the greatest present threats to American democracy: the influence of untraceable corporate money on our elections and elected officials."
The film takes viewers to Montana—a frontline in the fight to preserve fair elections nationwide—to follow an intrepid local journalist working to expose the real-life impacts of the 2010 U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which significantly weakened campaign finance laws.
