Carima4Senate.com

She describes herself as a progressive Democrat and small business owner with a record of service to the region's arts, education and health organizations. A Buffalo resident who grew up on Grand Island, Carima El-Behairy has announced her candidacy for the New York State Senate District 60 seat, currently held by Republican Chris Jacobs.

El-Behairy says she is running on a platform of quality education - particularly universal pre-K - health care access and affordability, election reform and preservation with development.

She co-founded the creative software and publishing company, P22 Type Foundry, and currently is a new business strategies consultant, helping "to formulate long-term financial solutions for startup businesses, those in transition and post-merger."

A founding trustee of the Western New York Book Arts Collaborative, Oracle Charter School, and the Western New York Charter School Coalition, El-Behairy also serves as treasurer for Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York.

El-Behairy’s other board experience includes her service as Board Development Chair for the Irish Classical Theatre Company, Board Fair Chair for the Westminster Early Childhood Program and Board Merger Committee Chair for the Art Directors of Buffalo.
