Republican frontrunner Donald Trump bring his high-profile presidential campaign to Buffalo's First Niagara Center on Sunday, April 17.
The rally, expected to be held at 7 p.m., will be held two days before New York's primary, in a contest where the state is in play for the first time in several presidential cycles.
New York will be an important test for the billionaire Manhattan developer, who lost the Wisconsin primary to Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday. Trump needs New York in the push to have a majority of the delegates when the GOP opens its convention in Cleveland this summer.
Former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino says Trump supporters have been pushing for months for the visit.
"It's thrilling. We've been working on this for months," Paladino told WBFO Wednesday.
The Buffalo area could see most, if not all, of the remaining candidates from both parties prior to the primary. Leading Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton will be in Buffalo this Friday, on the heels of her husband, former President Bill Clinton's visit to Depew on Tuesday. There are also rumblings of a Cruz visit sometime next week.
