U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will be traveling around the state for Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton prior to the April 19th state primary.

Gillibrand appeared in Amherst Monday morning for an event at Daemen College.  Gillibrand told reporters she does not believe democrat Bernie Sanders will stand in the way of a Clinton victory in the Presidential New York primary.

“I think Hillary Clinton is ready to compete whether it is in the primary or general and she is sharing her vision with the entire country.  And it doesn’t matter when Bernie decides to stay in our out. I think she will win the primary and then will the general, but she has to win the general and that’s the biggest challenge,” responded Gillibrand.

Gillibrand said he will be traveling around the state to campaign for Clinton leading up to the April 19th state primary.

"I will be traveling around the state for her over the next few weeks before the primary and then I will be traveling around the country for her doing events in various primary states,," said Gillibrand.

Meanwhile, Clinton will be making a campaign stop in Buffalo this Friday.  But Tuesday, husband, former President Bill Clinton, appears at a Depew event at the Heartstone Manor to stump for his wife.

WBFO’s Eileen Buckley asked Senator Gillibrand if she believes Hillary Clinton has been able to change some of views of younger women who are in favor of supporting Bernie Sanders.

“I think she’s talking a lot about the issues that they care deeply about, whether it’s paid leave or whether it’s college affordability – those are issues that fundamentally effect young women. If you look at her life experience, she’s always cared about the well-being of women and girls – from the first job, working at the Children’s Defense Fund to her work as Secretary of State,” replied Gillibrand.
