Schumer fights to end Robocalls

WBFO News photo by Eileen Buckley

On Sunday, Senator Charles Schumer urged major landline and mobile phone carriers to make robocall-blocking technology available to consumers.

Robocall blocking technology sends automated calls to a spam box; much like an email spam box. Thousands of  people receive robocalls even when their names are on the "Do Not Call" list. Schumer calls automated phone calls annoying and says robocall scammers hurt people financially.

He says if the Federal Trade Commission doesn't pressure carriers to implement robocall-blocking technology he will consider legislation.
