Governor Andrew Cuomo lead major supporters of the Mario Cuomo Campaign for Economic Justice in a New York City parade.
On Saturday, the Mario Cuomo Campaign for Economic Justice kicked off. Governor Cuomo and over two dozen elected officials and supporters marched to raise minimum wage to $15/hr in the 2015 NYC Central Labor Council Labor Day Parade. Cuomo says the day where living decently while working a full time job at minimum wage no longer exists. He says the heightened minimum wage will help families in New York State.
The campaign, named after former governor Mario Cuomo continues his legacy as he is remembered as an advocate for workers rights who raised minimum wage twice during his three terms. Mario Cuomo also started the Garment Worker's Strike Force and the first ever joint State/Union health care committee.
