Video: Candidates square off in sole gubernatorial debate

Incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo, Republican Rob Astorino, Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins, and Libertarian Michael McDermott participated in the one-hour forum, which was broadcast live to public television on radio stations across the state. It was heard live on 88.7 WBFO-FM and WNED-TV.
The debate's moderator was WBFO News Director Brian Meyer. The panel was comprised of three respected political journalists: Bob McCarthy of The Buffalo News, Karen DeWitt from New York Public Radio, and Juan Gonzalez of the New York Daily News.
Candidates debates issues include hydrofracking, Common Core, the Moreland Commission, charter schools, and marijuana, among other topics. The two major party candidates, Cuomo and Astorino, took repeated jabs at each other throughout the hour, often going off-topic.
