McCarthy reviews local Congressional races

In sharp contrast to 2012 when Chris Collins ousted incumbent Congresswoman Kathy Hochul in a hard fought battle, the local 2014 Congressional races aren't likely to present similar drama. According to Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy, the closest race may be for the seat currently held by Southern Tier Congressman Tom Reed.

In his weekly conversation during Morning Edition on WBFO, McCarthy says Democrat Martha Robertson has been waging a spirited challenge to Reed, but it appears financial support from national party leaders is beginning to fade.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer recently endorsed the candidacy of fellow Democrat Marc Panepinto in the 60th state Senate district. McCarthy says it's not a huge story that a Democrat would endorse a Democrat. What's more noteworthy, McCarthy says, is that the state's top Democrat, Governor Andrew Cuomo, has not offered his support.
