Erie County Republican Chair Nick Langworthy welcomes Donald Trump

At a  fundraiser at Salvatore's Italian Gardens Friday evening, Trump called New York's new gun control laws a disaster, supported fracking for natural gas and criticized Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo's tax policies for businesses.

Trump was the featured guest at a $100-per-person event held by the Erie County Republican Party.

The New York City developer has met with Republican leaders about a possible challenge to Cuomo. But he repeated his condition that he'll only run if the state's Republican Party rallies behind him and he faces no challengers for the nomination.

Supporters welcome Donald Trump to Buffalo

"You can't have people going through a horrible contest with each other, knocking the hell out of each other in a primary and spending millions of dollars," Trump said. "Then, somebody comes out wounded."

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is also considering a run for governor on the Republican line.
