It’s Election Day 2013. Voters in Erie County began casting ballots at 6 a.m. Tuesday when the polls opened. Several races are taking center stage, including the race for Buffalo Mayor, Erie County Sheriff and Erie County Comptroller.
Some of the candidates were at the polls early Tuesday morning to vote in the races. Republican Mayoral candidate Sergio Rodriguez voted at 6:30 a.m. at School 28 in Buffalo.
Incumbent Byron Brown cast his vote around 7:30 Tuesday morning at his voting site at Canisius College in Buffalo.
Incumbent County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw voted around 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Autumnwood Senior Center on Clinton Street in the city. Democratic opponent, Kevin Gaughan, cast his ballot after attending Mass at Saint Joseph’s Cathedral. Gaughan voted at Unitarian Universalist Church in Buffalo.
In the three-way race for Erie County Sheriff, incumbent republican Sheriff Timothy Howard appeared at 10 a.m. at the Gow School in South Wales to vote.
Democratic opponent Dick Dobson appears tonight with supports at a party at J’s White Elephant on Abbott Road in Lackawanna after 9 p.m. Dobson is now under fire for placing a 911 call where he reported a dispute at the Grand Island Rod and Gun Club back on October 25th. It was revealed that there was no incident at the facility, instead when deputies arrived, they were told Dobson just wanted to give the deputies some leftover food from his fundraiser. Law & Order party candidate for Sheriff, Bert Dun, also voted earlier Tuesday.
