Justice Ginsburg to visit Buffalo today as scheduled

U.S. Supreme Court

The University at Buffalo has received confirmation that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will visit the university and Kleinhans Music Hall Monday as scheduled.

Ginsburg just completed three weeks of radiation treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The radiation therapy, conducted on an outpatient basis, began shortly after a localized cancerous tumor was discovered on her pancreas.

Doctors said further tests showed no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body.

The treatment comes just months after Ginsburg was operated on for lung cancer last December. The 86-year-old justice has been treated for cancer in various forms over the past 20 years.

She will give a lecture to UB Law School students and be the special guest at an evening program at Kleinhans Music Hall for members and guests of the area's legal community tonight. Ginsburg will also receive and Honorary Doctoral Degree in Law from SUNY at 11 a.m. at the UB Center for the Arts.
