An Amherst Police traffic accident graphic.
Amherst Police

Amherst Police said a mid-morning three vehicle crash Thursday on Evans Street just south of Sheridan Drive sent two of the three drivers to the hospital and left the third driver with minor injuries, which were treated at the scene.

They said a 65-year-old man from Williamsville was driving a Chevy Colorado southbound on Evans Street, but crossed into the northbound lane, where he struck a Ford Escape driven by an 81-year-old man from North Tonawanda head on. He then struck a Chevy Silverado driven by a 55-year-old man from Newfane, also head on.

One of the two drivers taken to Erie County Medical Center suffered leg and head injuries, and the other serious head and chest injuries. The Williamsville man later died.

Investigators are asking anyone who might have dash-cam or security camera footage of the crash to call Amherst Police at 716-689-1311.
