Niagara County officials are investigating a fire in the Town of Porter that took the lives of three dogs and a cat.

The Niagara County Sheriff said a 911 call came in Sunday just after 7 p.m. reporting a residential structure fire at 2301 Youngstown Wilson Rd. The home was fully involved when deputies arrived on scene.

Deputies said the residents were not home at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished by members of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company and no person was injured.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents of the house, which is believed to be a total loss.
