Bicyclist killed in Amherst

Police sirens

An Amherst man riding his bike died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle.

Amherst Police said the 57-year-old man was riding in the area of 100 Longmeadow Road about 8 p.m., when he was struck by an 84-year-old female driver.

The cyclist sustained multiple head and back injuries and was transported to Erie County Medical Center, but he died there of his injuries.

Investigators are canvassing for video and witnesses and are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident to contact the Amherst Police Department at 689-1311.

No charges have been filed at this time.
