Chautauqua County to offer limited COVID-19 rapid testing

The Chautauqua County Health department is increasing its COVID-19 testing abilities over the next two weeks.

Chautauqua County residents will be soon able to receive a rapid COVID-19 test thanks to the health department’s acquisition of Abbott ID Now testing machines. Tests will be available this Tuesday at the Murphy Fire Training Center on Brigham Road in Dunkirk from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again during the same hours on December 29. Tests will also be available at the Taylor Training Center on Harrison Street in Jamestown from 9 to 2 this Wednesday, and again on the 30th.

Testing is free, but residents must register in advance on the county website. Health department officials expect the tests to be in high-demand, and warn that even with an appointment, wait times may be long.
