The City of Lockport Common Council met Monday to vote on 2021 city budget vetoes made by Mayor Michelle Roman.
Roman had restored seven budget cuts made earlier by the Council to prevent a property tax increase. But six of the mayor's seven vetoes were overridden by 4-2 votes Monday.
That means cuts for the Community Pool, opening playgrounds and Fire Department training, an increase in hours for the dog control officer, an engineering intern position and a contribution to the Niagara Community Action Program.
The Council also voted 5-1 to allow restoration of a $5,000 raise for the mayor's secretary, originally aproved by the Council two years ago.
