3 youngsters struck, injured by vehicle in Lockport

Niagara County Sheriff

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said it received multiple 911 calls Tuesday reporting a motor vehicle accident that injured several youngsters.

The Sheriff said initial investigation revealed there were five girls walking along Rapids Road in Lockport about 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle struck three of them. The girls were aged 9-14.

The Sheriff said two of the girls were transported by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital and are in stable condition. One girl was transported to Oishei by Mercy Flight and is in critical condition. The male driver of the vehicle was not injured.

No names are being released at this time and no charges have been reported. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Sheriff's Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or the children walking in the area of 7219 Rapids Rd. prior to the accident is asked to call 438-3393.
