Town of Tonawanda Police ask public for info on fatal motorcycle crash

Nittec Traffic Operations
The crash happened on the eastbound 290 near Colvin Boulevard..

Eastbound traffic on the Youngmann Memorial Highway (I-290) was tied up for most of the morning Tuesday morning, after a serious crash at the Colvin Boulevard interchange in the Town of Tonawanda.

Police say John Serrano, 47, of North Tonawanda was killed after his motorcycle left the highway at around 3:30 a.m. He was thrown into the middle lane of traffic and struck by several passing vehicles.

The highway remained closed into the 11 a.m. hour and eastbound traffic was diverted onto the Colvin off-ramp, then back to the on-ramp.

Town of Tonawanda Police are investigating and say no charges will be filed. However, anyone with information is asked to contact town police at 879-6614 or on their confidential tip line at 879-6606.
