A breezy Wednesday morning at Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo was devoid of any tents. Much of the spray adorning the fountain at the center of the square had been scrubbed away.
For weeks now, Niagara Square has been the flashpoint between the law enforcement and people protesting police brutality.
Citing complaints about property destruction, unsanitary conditions, and threats to the public, the Buffalo Police Department released a statement Wednesday morning announcing the arrests of 13 individuals who refused the officer’s orders to leave the square Tuesday night. They are charged with obstructing governmental administration, being in the park after 10 p.m., and sleeping in the park.
A member of an unidentified social justice group who returned to the square Wednesday said there plans for another protest for 5 p.m. Wednesday.
