Western New York is expected to move into Phase 2 of reopening on Tuesday, allowing hair salons and a variety of retail establishments to resume business with certain precautions in place.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced in his daily briefing on Monday that the region would join five other upstate regions in moving forward with the state’s reopening plan, awaiting confirmation by global officials.

"The data we have been tabulating during Phase 1 in Western New York, all that data looks good," Cuomo said. "There is a body of knowledge to know and there are a body of experts that have been through this in other countries," Cuomo said, adding that he expects approval for reopening

As per New York State guidelines, here are the industries and businesses set to reopen as part of Phase 2:

Businesses can refer to the NY Forward Safety Plan template if they are permitted to open, but state guidance for it has not been published.

If WNY is confirmed to move into Phase 2 on Tuesday, as expected, the earliest it can move into Phase 3 would be two weeks from then, on June 15.
