The hospitalization rate of COVID 19 patients in Erie County is once again declining.
County Executive Mark Poloncarz has updated the latest numbers provided by the state as of Thursday, May 21st. The number of people hospitalized in the county stood at 165 Thursday, down from the most recent peak of 186 last Tuesday.
The decline is a key benchmark for our region to begin Phase 2 of reopening which would include most offices and retail establishments.
Six people died of COVID 19 in Erie County Thursday, which was up from three deaths on Wednesday.
Poloncarz also noted that hospital discharges exceeded admissions by 16 on Thursday.
