Cheektowaga cancels major summertime events

Town of Cheektowaga

Officials in Cheektowaga have looked through their calendar and canceled a number of spring and summertime events in the town due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The list includes major events that annually attract thousands of participants:

  • Memorial Day Ceremony
  • Firefighters Recognition Day
  • War of 1812 Ceremony
  • Flag Day Concert
  • July 3 Concert
  • July 4 Parade
  • Family Days and Arts and Craft Show
  • The Polish-American Arts Festival
  • The Youth and Recreation and Senior Services Summer Concert Series.

Other town events, including summer camps, sports leagues and other recreational activities, are still being evaluated to see if they can take place based upon the governor's 12-step plan to unpause New York.

Mark Wozniak, WBFO's local All Things Considered host, has been at WBFO since mid-1978.
