The Buffalo Museum of Science is celebrating National Engineers Week with a wide range of engineering disciplines and daily interactive activities.
“National Engineers Week is an annual event that we acknowledge and celebrate each year here at the Buffalo Museum of Science,” said Museum President and CEO Marisa Wigglesworth. “We are fortunate that it generally coordinates with the public school break week here in Buffalo. So a number of families have the opportunity to come out during mid-week days in addition to weekend days, and enjoy some of the programming that we are offering.”
Wigglesworth says it’s also an effort for the museum to promote what she calls “STEM thinker” skills among children.
“Those are skills around asking good questions, thinking critically, and solving problems,” said Wigglesworth. “That happens a great deal in science, but of course so much of that, engineering is dependent on so many of those skills as well.”
Each day of the week focuses on a theme. Included is teen STEM, engineering in space, and introducing young girls to careers in engineering. All activities are included with general admission, and are free for science museum members through February 22.
