An Amherst Police vehicle was involved in a serious car accident just before midnight on Friday. The officer was resonding to a call when the collision occurred on Sheridan Drive near Sweethome Road. The driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old woman from Centereach, New York, was transported to ECMC in stable condition. Four passengers were also hospitalized, two in stable condition and two in critical condition.
The officer is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
