Buffalo fire officials have ruled a fire that torched the future home of two anti-violence groups an arson. The two-alarm blaze started around 5 p.m. Tuesday at 79 Kilhoffer Street. The building was in the process of being renovated for use as a community center and the headquarters of the Buffalo Peacemakers and the Stop the Violence Coalition.
Buffalo fire officials say it appears an incendiary device was used. The building is a total loss and is being demolished Wednesday.
The fire remains under investigation. One firefighter suffered injuries battling the blaze. He was treated and released from ECMC. Two adults who live in a house next door are being assisted by the Red Cross.
