Winter Weather Advisory in place for Monday morning commute

Though snow totals remain below average for this winter, bouts of extreme weather continue to challenge Western New Yorkers. Over the weekend, winds in excess of 60 miles per hour battered the region, leaving thousands without power. To start the work week this morning, freezing drizzle is expected to glaze some roadways. The conditions have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m.

Here's the statement issued by the National Weather Service at 3:51 this morning:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Freezing drizzle and or very light freezing rain possible.

* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, and Allegany counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.

* IMPACTS...Untreated surfaces could become glazed. This will especially be the case for secondary roads and sidewalks.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.
