Winter Weather advisories issued for Sunday

Winter Weather Advisories issued.

The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for all of Western New York that will stretch into the weekend.

The advisory is issued for Niagara, Genesee, Orleans, and Northern Erie Counties from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Wyoming, and Southern Erie Counties, the advisory begins on 1 a.m. and remains in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday.

Mixed precipitation is expected with this system that is making its way to Western New York. Freezing rain, sleet, and snow could be part of the weekend. Ice accumulations could be between one-tenth and two-tenths of an inch and one to two inches of snow.

The weather maker may impact travel for those traveling by air and also those driving back to their destinations. It is recommended that you check with your airline before heading to the airport, especially during the posted advisory times.
