Mental health professionals with interdisciplinary training deemed crucial for public health

UB

A University at Buffalo professor is looking to lead a new movement at the World Psychiatric Association Congress in Lisbon this week. Uriel Halbreich, along with over a dozen other international psychiatrists, are calling on mental health professionals to focus on global well-being to improve public health. He spoke with WBFO’s Nick Lippa about the integrated and interdisciplinary approach he thinks is needed to provide healthier communities.

The annual meeting starts today and runs through Saturday.

Nick Lippa leads our Arts & Culture Coverage, and is also the lead reporter for the station's Mental Health Initiative, profiling the struggles and triumphs of those who battle mental health issues and the related stigma that can come from it.
