Niagara County moves to stop Green Light Law

NiagaraCounty.com

The Niagara County Legislature voted unanimously Tuesday night to authorize a lawsuit against New York's controversial Green Light Law.

The law, which has drawn challenges from several officials, including Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns, allows undocumented immigrants access to state driver's licenses.

After Tuesday's vote, the lead sponsor of the resolution, Niagara County Legislator Rebecca Wydysh, said the decision "is to preserve the sanctity of our election process and ultimately our democracy."

Officials argue the Green Light Law violates federal law.
