Hear 1A Host Joshua Johnson with WBFO's Jay Moran
WBFO listeners have a new program to listen to, with the Buffalo-area debut of 1A.
1A is a show for a changing America, now airing on more than 230 stations. It debuted on WBFO on July first.
Every day, host Joshua Johnson convenes a conversation about the most important issues of our time.
“1-A stands for r the first amendment. The basic rules of the road for our demoracy,” Johnson says in a recent interview with WBFO’s Jay Moran. “… It’s kind of the way we deal with each other on a very basic level. … It’s the idea that with the First Amendment we are all encouraged to speak freely.”
Johnson says that they will sometimes discuss the first amendment, but use it as more of a philosophical underpinning. 1A explores important issues such as policy, politics, technology, and what connects us across the fissures that divide the country. The program also delves into pop culture, sports, and humor. 1A's goal is to act as a national mirror -- taking time to help America look at itself and to ask what it wants to be.
The conversation isn't just on air. 1A invites the audience to join in.The show regularly posts questions and requests for feedback on this page: http://the1a.org/ask-1a. And your listeners can engage on Twitter, Facebook, or by texting 1A to 63735.
1A is produced by WAMU 88.5, and distributed by NPR.
